Livermore

Mike and Linda Livermore needed additional storage and work space for their active lifestyle. Their property is located in a secluded Marion County rural estate setting. The project was a new detached Shop/Storage building on their existing property. They needed storage for their camper and boat, additional household storage, a shop area for Mike, and a quilting studio for Linda. The program required a very tall 18 ft clear floor-to-ceiling height on the main floor for the recreational vehicles, at two bays. The additional height allowed for an additional mezzanine area over the quilting studio area. Mezzanine is dramatically The [...]

Float-House

The project owners/partners are a local donation and a non-profit. The slip owner had generously donated an existing houseboat, on a premium slip located on the Columbia River. The slip comes with the title, a 40’x60’ float, and an existing home. It was quickly determined that the existing structure had been compromised beyond redemption, and total demolition was warranted. The new design complies with the moorage HOA, CC&Rs, and City of Gresham Municipal Codes (Section 10.60.050). The front entry door is covered and located directly adjacent and perpendicular to the wharf, creating a semi-private arrival point. The transitional entry foyer, [...]

Home Builder

Swerhone Architecture worked closely with a local homebuilder to make-over selected home designs from their existing portfolio of homes. The focus was exclusively on the street elevations, with minor revisions to floor plans as required. The homebuilder’s target market is typically a two-story, 3-bedroom home ranging between 2,500 SF and 3,000 SF. The owners requested contemporary, popular, craftsman-style homes with timber and stone details. Swerhone Architecture provided services, from preliminary sketches, through to colored rendering, and construction details for each home. Two alternative elevations were provided for the five homes requested.

Small Homes

The majority of single-family homes designed by Swerhone Architecture have been in conjunction with planned unit developments. The homes are typically small, unique homes, designed in a neo-traditional manner with front porches and rear-located garages. The homes are designed as detached, usually around 24’ wide, but range up to 32’-36’ in width, or as wide as the site and the budget allows. We work with local jurisdictions to ensure timely permits and provide master planning and landscape design.

Teammates

Teammates, by design, is a neighborhood of people with developmental disabilities and senior citizens with lower-than-average incomes and restricted or diminished abilities. While utilizing the strengths of each of the tenants to balance the weaknesses, we expect to achieve a high degree of success. Teammates Townhomes consist of two 4-plex buildings; each 1-bedroom unit is 544 SF. Architect Derrick Swerhone was involved with the project from conception to site selection, and its successful completion. Teammates is ownership of responsibility, ownership of independence, and ownership of pride in oneself. This project is a great success, with individuals and families living together [...]
