Retail Center Renovation & Façade Modernization

Swerhone Architecture is leading the renovation of Avenida Del Sol, a multi-building retail center in Vancouver, WA originally built in the 1980s. Located on a multi-level site with interconnected stairs and pedestrian walkways, the center required a thoughtful, cohesive design strategy to improve both functionality and curb appeal.

The project focuses on three primary buildings, each receiving a contemporary façade redesign. By transforming the original quasi-Spanish Revival style into a clean, regionally inspired aesthetic, the new design enhances tenant visibility, reinforces center identity, and improves material efficiency. These updates help revitalize the development while creating a more attractive and accessible experience for visitors.

In addition to exterior upgrades, Derrick Swerhone is coordinating with a structural consultant to evaluate the building systems and replace any aging or underperforming elements. This ensures the retail center not only looks modern but also meets today’s safety and durability standards.

The result is a fresh, forward-looking commercial space that supports tenant success and reflects the evolving character of Vancouver’s urban environment.
