Yacolt Church Fellowship Center
While serving as principal architect at Avalon, Derrick Swerhone designed the Yacolt Church Fellowship Center to support a growing rural congregation in Clark County, Washington. This 8,000-square-foot facility reflects a simple yet welcoming architectural language, suited to the community it serves.
At the heart of the design is a striking porte cochere that marks the primary entrance—creating a covered, gracious arrival point for congregants and guests. Inside, a vaulted 1,200 SF sanctuary provides a bright, uplifting worship space. The building also includes a 1,375 SF dining hall paired with a warming kitchen, flexible classroom spaces for youth and adult programs, and administrative offices that support daily operations and event coordination.
The Fellowship Center was designed to serve as both a spiritual home for the Yacolt Seventh-day Adventist Church and a hub for local outreach, blending form and function to foster connection, learning, and fellowship.
