Igloo Restaurant
Retro Diner Renovation and Community Hub
Swerhone Architecture partnered with owner Cindy Austin-Dawson to bring the Igloo Restaurant back to life—reviving a local favorite with thoughtful design and bold character. This neighborhood diner renovation celebrates its mid-century roots with a standout pleated stainless steel exterior, evoking the charm of a classic American diner.
In addition to the restaurant, the mixed-use building features a private residential studio apartment on the second floor, adding function and flexibility. Outside, the property now includes fully landscaped grounds, inviting outdoor seating, and a neighborhood event park, offering a welcoming space for both dining and community gatherings.
Blending retro nostalgia with modern upgrades, the Igloo Restaurant has reestablished itself as a local landmark—a place where great food meets great company in the heart of the neighborhood.
