Vancouver Church

Swerhone Architecture was engaged by Vancouver Church to reimagine and transform their Children’s Ministry Center into a vibrant, themed environment that reflects the church’s deep commitment to family, faith, and experiential learning. The project focuses on enhancing the Sunday experience for both children and their parents by creating a space that communicates the love and truth of Jesus through immersive storytelling and design.

Located within the church’s 80,000 SF campus—also home to Kingsway Christian Schools—the remodel spans 20,000 SF over two floors. The new design reinterprets the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest through a visual journey from ranchland to alpine peaks, symbolizing a child’s spiritual growth and adventure in faith. The project introduces a nature-themed narrative pathway, reinforcing wayfinding, identity, and engagement throughout the center.

Inspired by the iconic architectural language of 1930s National Parks Service structures, the design uses organic forms, rustic materials, and layered visuals to craft a welcoming and memorable environment. Families are welcomed through both exterior and interior access points, emphasizing intuitive navigation and a positive first impression.

Swerhone Architecture worked closely with the Vancouver Church building committee, ministry leadership, and education administrators to balance ministry goals, spatial efficiency, and phased construction feasibility. The result is an uplifting, transformative space that grows with its young community.
